The last of Jane Austen's that I haven't read and thoroughly enjoyable but then I am a sucker for this type of love story.
It's not quite a Sense & Sensibility or Pride & Prejudice but definitely better than Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey.
Full of classic Austen irony and characters.
Bought on a whim because I just fancied reading something a bit more contemporary after Austen and I really enjoyed it. Eugenides has an interesting writing style. You never really know who is telling the story and the plot development is beautifully subtle so that it gradually builds towards the ending which ultimately leaves you to your own conclusions.
